Initiatives to grow METS exports

METS Ignited will be moving Australia closer to its position as a global METS and mining hub with its debut engagement at two of the mining industry's pre-eminent international conferences.

The Industry Growth Centre will lead key stakeholder engagement at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention and Chilean EXPOMIN Conference in the first quarter of of 2018.

METS Ignited CEO Ric Gros said these events demonstrate a commitment to advancing Australia as a global METS and mining hub and will support innovation pathways into these markets.

"The value in participating in these conferences is two-fold; METS Ignited will showcase our sector's capability internationally and we will deepen our knowledge and engagement in these regions, helping to progress future collaboration opportunities.

"The Industry Growth Centre is progressing an innovation partnership arrangement with Austrade to facilitate a coordinated approach to international engagement and market development in these pivotal regions.

"At EXPOMIN - Chile's largest mining trade fair in Latin America -- we will partner with Austrade to provide a program of activities showcasing the best of Australian METS innovation, and facilitate customer and industry meetings," Mr Gros said.

In November last year, METS Ignited and Austrade launched the METSTech Passport, an exchange and collaboration program between Australia and Chile.

The METSTech Passport initiative is expected to play an integral role in demonstrating industry cooperation to strengthen future export opportunities.
