METS Cluster Development Manager appointment

METS Ignited and the Queensland Government are pleased to announce Sergio Zaccaria as the newly appointed Cluster Development Manager in South East Queensland. Serge's appointment is an integral part of the Queensland Clustering Initiative.

In 2018, METS Ignited and the Queensland Government launched the Queensland Clustering Initiative to provide a pathway to global competitiveness and increased export opportunities for METS businesses. Through a series of workshops the Initiative has brought together METS, mining companies, research institutions, government and industry bodies to identify areas of complementary skills and expertise as the catalyst to forming clusters in response to key mining challenges.

Cluster Development Manager, Sergio Zaccaria

Sergio brings to METS Ignited a broad range of experiences in the mining, resources, instrumentation and the manufacturing sectors gained over many years. His experience includes roles in business development, marketing, management, technical and product management both in Australia and internationally. This includes global sales and marketing manager and managing the Latin America region for an Australian METS company.

In his role as Cluster Development Manager Sergio will work with a wide array of businesses. These businesses will range from major miners and contractors to SMEs engaged in providing products, services and technology to the mining and resources industries.

Sergio will engage with METS companies to understand and capture their capabilities to develop a comprehensive database of Queensland METS company's capabilities in responding to current and future mining challenges.

With a greater understanding of the Queensland METS industry, Sergio will work with local, state and federal government stakeholders to identify and support opportunities for Queensland METS to engage in new commercial ventures in domestic and international markets.

Underpinning this work will be a best practice clustering model, encouraging companies to form collaborative alliances by linking SMEs, mining houses, tier one contractors and the wider research community in Queensland in order to grow their sales and expand their operations.

Sergio invites METS companies to get in touch, to help progress effective collaborative activity; provide direct access to resources (including technical, financial and export assistance); helping to drive the best possible outcomes for METS businesses and the sector.
