Following the Commonwealth Government's $14M commitment to establishing an Industry Growth Centre for the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services sector headquartered in Brisbane, the Queensland Government committed a further $6M to support the implementation of pilot programs run out of Queensland and to establish the QUT Centre for METS Business Innovation.
METS Ignited and the Queensland Government developed the METS Sector Competitiveness Plan (SCP) and Queensland METS Sector Roadmap in parallel, designing a work program of activities and annual agreement to address the key challenges and opportunities in Australia's mining sector.
The highly successful partnership between METS Ignited and the Department of State Development Manufacturing Infrastructure and Planning continues to deliver an annual work program of pilot activities developed on the principles of the original SCP and Roadmap.
These activities support the development of METS business capability and the acceleration of METS product and services commercialisation to the benefit of both the Queensland national mining ecosystems.
A host of pilot programs are available to the METS sector in 2019, including
- Queensland Clustering Initiative
- Queensland METS Audio Visual Production Program
- METS Digital Business Workshops
- RISE scale-up Accelerator and Regional Accelerator programs
- METS Test Facilities Database
