Queensland METS regional accelerators
Regional METS companies are well-recognised for their innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
METS Ignited and the Queensland Government have hosted "mini" accelerators for Queensland METS start-ups and SMEs in regional Queensland in late 2018.
These accelerators focused on increasing business capabilities for companies looking to remain competitive and expand their markets.
In October and November 2018, METS Ignited and the Queensland Government have engaged regional industry groups Resource Industry Network, Gladstone Engineering Alliance, Toowoomba Surat Basin Enterprise, to host Regional Pre-Accelerators in Mackay, Gladstone and Toowoomba.
The Regional Pre-Accelerator Program was be delivered by KPMG.
Participants in the Pre-Accelerator were invited to take part in a Regional Showcase at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, coinciding with the Queensland Resources Council's (QRC) Annual Lunch and Forum.
Igniting METS pilot Accelerator
In 2017, METS Ignited and the Queensland Government ran the highly successful pilot accelerator, Igniting METS.
Igniting METS was the first of its kind in Australia, delivering an accelerator for METS companies with innovations ready to be implemented into the mining industry.
Igniting METS was funded by the Queensland Government and operated by KPMG Energise in Brisbane. Among the eight participants were six METS companies from regional Queensland.
Since graduating from the accelerator, all of the companies have made significant progress in advancing their innovations.
On the success of the pilot program, METS Ignited and the Queensland Government will be running new accelerator programs in 2018-19.
