Ifor Ffowcs-Williams meeting with Mackay METS companies to discuss the Bowen Basin Cluster Program.

METS Ignited hosted world clustering authority Ifor Ffowcs-Williams in Mackay this week, as part of the Bowen Basin clustering initiative.

METS Ignited General Manager Industry Implementation Dr Ian Dover said Mr Ffowcs-Williams provided a global update on clustering business models.

"Mr Ffowcs-Williams couldn't have come at a better time to provide invaluable insight into cluster development tools and techniques, and how these have been applied here and overseas," Dr Dover said.

"Applications are now open for METS companies to come together and participate in a pilot program designed to deliver increased value to Queensland's mining operations".

The Bowen Basin Cluster Program is a joint initiative between METS Ignited and Queensland Government to bring METS companies together with complementary expertise to solve mining challenges collaboratively.

Dr Dover has this week visited Cairns, Townsville and Mackay to discuss the matched funding for collaborative commercial projects delivering on either a live business opportunity, have customer demand, involvement or funding, or deliver broad benefits to regional business and education communities.

Mr Ffowcs-Williams is the CEO and founder of Cluster Navigators, and author of the Cluster Development Handbook.
