Entries are now open for a national mining technologies award that will help the winning company to expand its business globally.

The Australian Technologies Competition , recognised nationally as a launch pad for global technology opportunities, is seeking innovative SMEs to enter its Mining Technologies Award.

The Mining Technologies Award, sponsored by METS Ignited, recognises technologies with global potential to the mining industry or from the mining industry with global potential.

The 2016 Award was won by Core Resources for the development of the Toowong Process technology.

The 2017 Mining Technology Award winner will join the top 30 successful businesses in an intensive business accelerator program, providing them with access to mentoring and funding opportunities from key industry partnerships.

METS Ignited Chief Executive Officer Mr Ric Gros said the partnership between the Government’s Industry Growth Centres and the Competition recognises a continued focus on priority sectors like the METS sector.

“Year on year we have seen strong competition for the Mining Technologies Award and high-level engagement from mining industry mentors,” Mr Gros said.

“As a proud sponsor of the Mining Technologies Award METS Ignited encourages start-ups from the mining equipment, technology and services sector to enter this year’s competition.

Competition founder and organiser, Mr John O’Brien said the Business Accelerator Program includes access to expert mentors and connections to investors, customers, specialist advisors, grant programs and international markets.

"The guidance on commercialisation, funding and pitching, combined with connections across industry, finance and international markets has enabled many of our alumni companies to make a step change in their business," Mr O’Brien said.
