METS Ignited in partnership with Queensland Government is funding a series of regional accelerator programs to provide regional businesses and start-ups with METS products and services, the opportunity to build their business capabilities and confidently use modern business techniques and frameworks to accelerate commercial outcomes for the innovative product or service.
These businesses will go on to showcase their innovative solution as part of a Regional Showcase to be held in conjunction with the Queensland Resources Council (QRC) State of the Sector Forum on 21 November at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The participating regions and industry groups, including Mackay (Resource Industry Network), Rockhampton (Capricorn Enterprise), Gladstone (Gladstone Engineering Alliance), Toowoomba (Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise), and Emerald (Central Highlands Development Corporation), will each host industry-specific pre-accelerator programs prior to the showcase in which participants have the opportunity to test and build on their product or service before taking it to market.
The Program's three intensive workshops will be delivered by KPMG and focus on understanding customer value, value proposition, and validating problem-solution fit. Each regional pre-accelerator program is limited to 10 businesses, and it is anticipated the program will generate new work opportunities through the introduction of their offering to a number of mining houses at the regional showcase event.
In addition, the program will promote and build the capabilities of Queensland METS companies so they can confidently apply relevant innovation tools and frameworks to accelerate commercial outcomes for into the future.
The Regional Pre-Accelerator Program forms part of a series of accelerator pilot programs planned for regional Queensland METS companies in 2018 and 2019.
